Hi Classmates, Instructors of Class 56P, and Spouses.

It is reunion time once again, and this time we are gathering in San Antonio, Tx, for our 50 year reunion.   Instructors, at the Reunion in October 1998 held in San Antonio, we invited the Instructors we had located from Bryan AFB, and we had five in attendance.  We have since located more from Laredo and Greenville, and would like to extend the invitation to attend this reunion to you also.  This is an opportunity to see how successful your students became and have a good time all in the same package.  For you that did not join us in San Antonio, we had 78 Classmates and Instructors in attendance plus 50 Spouses.

The reunion will be held at the Oak Hills Medical Center Hotel, 7409 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78299.   This is the same hotel that we used in 1998, and has been extensively refurbished.   They are offering us a rate of $65 per night, for a standard two bed room, or $69 per night for a business king.  They also are offering a two room suite for $75 per night.  All rooms include a full American breakfast, and that rate will apply if you arrive early or stay longer than the reunion.  The hotel has blocked 50 rooms for us, and will hold this block until September 7, 2004.  However, I encourage you to make your reservations early, so that if we fill up the block, (I hope we do), then we can request additional rooms be added to the block.  If you make your reservations after September 7, the prevailing rate will apply, if space is available.  To make your reservation call the Hotel directly at (210) 614-9900, identify yourself and request the group rate for 56P08.  All reservations must be guaranteed for arrival by deposit in advance or confirmed with a credit card

The reunion plans include a hospitality suite operating each day Sunday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 4, where we can bring our own food and beverages, lie to each other, and tell other kinds of wild tales.  On Monday we have a tour of Randolph AFB and their flying training program setup, followed by lunch at the Randolph Officers Club, and possibly an extension to Lackland AFB to see the old Cadet and Student Officer Preflight Training Areas if I can find anyone who knows where they were.  This tour includes bus transportation.  Monday evening the Hotel is providing us with a free welcome reception with Margaritas and other Mexican fare.  Tuesday Evening we plan a River Boat cruise, followed by dinner at a restaurant on the River walk, and some free time following dinner.  Bus transportation is included.  Wednesday evening is the banquet at the hotel, which will be a buffet with three entrée choices, with a cash bar available.

Now comes the cost part.  For the reunion itself, which includes the hospitality room, the banquet, tips, taxes, service charges, overhead, etc. the cost will be $35 per person.  If you are bringing a spouse or significant other, it is $35 each.  The cost for the Randolph tour will be $25 per person and includes lunch at the Officer’s Club.  The cost of the River Walk Dinner tour will be $40 per person, and includes the Dinner at the Mexican Restaurant. I must emphasize that because of volatile fuel prices and depending on numbers of participants these costs are subject to change.  I am not making anything on this project, but neither do I want to lose anything on it.  The hotel provides transportation to and from the airport, the shuttle hours are from 8:15 am until 8:15 pm.  Contact the hotel for further details.

To register for the reunion, please send a check for $25 per person, made out, to Class 56P-08 Reunion to me,   Roger Dilling, 8 Passage Lane, Salem, SC, 29676.  Tell me how many are going to attend.   Also indicate whether or not, and how many plan to attend the Randoph tour and the River Walk Dinner tour.  If you are planning to attend the Randolph tour, please include the Social Security Number of everyone that will be attending, along with the rank of any of you that are retired so that I can pass this information to Randolph and Lackland security folks in advance.  It will make our access to the bases much easier and quicker.   I will collect balance due at the reunion.  This deposit is fully refundable until September 1, 2006.   After that time, I start incurring non-refundable expenses with the hotel, so I may or may not be able to refund it if you have to cancel.
